Jonathan Kohrs is assistant professor of music at Concordia University in River Forest, Illinois, where he teaches in the areas of church music and music theory and conducts the Schola Cantorum. Before coming to Concordia he served for fifteen years as parish musician and teacher at churches in Wisconsin and Illinois in urban, rural, and suburban settings. An active member of the Association for Lutheran Church Musicians, he has coordinated and presented at church music workshops on the local and national level and has contributed articles to ALCM’s newsletter, Grace Notes, and journal, Cross Accent. Augsburg Fortress Publishers and Concordia Publishing House publish his work, including music for choir, handbells, organ, piano and instruments. He also is minister of music at Grace Lutheran Church in Northbrook, Illinois, serving as organist and director of vocal, handbell, and instrumental ensembles.
